We’ve made some big changes over at Westchase Shopping Center in Houston, Texas. On June 1st, Whole Foods Market celebrated their grand opening after relocating from our center across the street, where they had been since 1991.
Whole Foods moved into 45,000 square feet of the former Randalls, nearly doubling their previous size. Five Below also leased part of the vacant space, taking up 8,000 square feet. Kirkland’s has signed a lease for 10,000 square feet.
The Randalls space has undergone a total transformation inside and out to accommodate these new tenants. The facade for Whole Foods was extensively reconstructed to allow for an indoor/outdoor patio with a glass storefront, and completely new store fronts were constructed for the two additional shop spaces for Five Below and Kirklands.
To maintain a balanced, cohesive curb appeal for the entire center, Weingarten also invested in renovating the other store fronts. In total, Weingarten invested about two million dollars in the updates.
Weingarten has recently secured leases for other spaces in the center. New and forthcoming tenants include Torchy’s Tacos, Pita Pit, and Caesars Nails and Spa. The center is currently 100% leased.
