Weingarten Realty is proud to announce Sweet Charlie’s is leasing 1,256 SF at Hope Valley Commons. This space is located in a premier shopping center just a few minutes south of downtown Durham.
Hope Valley Commons is located at the intersection of Highways 54 and 751. There is excellent access from I-40 and is a few minutes away from the Streets of Southpoint Mall. This Harris Teeter-anchored center serves a neighborhood of over 52,000 people. It is home to Fast Frame, Japan Xpress, Marco’s Pizza, and Walgreen’s and other popular retail stores and businesses.
Sweet Charlie’s serves rolled ice cream made from scratch-to-order in front of the customer.
First, they prepare Sweet Charlie’s ice cream by pouring the creamy base onto a frozen metal platter. Second, they add your choice of flavor and toppings to the base and scrape the ice cream into rolls. You can choose to eat this Thai treat in a cup or doughnut.
The founder, Kyle Billig, was inspired by a Facebook video of a street vendor in Thailand quickly making ice cream on a frozen surface. After lots of time and research, the Billig family founded “Sweet Charlie’s” and opened their first store in Philadelphia, PA, May of 2016. Now, there are 16 Sweet Charlie’s open across the US with another 10 (including the Durham site) “Coming Soon”.
