After two months of walking, running, and jogging the step results of Weingarten’s FitBit Challenge are in. Sixteen teams entered the competition, each composed of five associates throughout the corporate and regional offices. From July 1st to August 31st, participating associates made a conscious effort to be more active around the office and at home. In the end, the sixteen teams of competitors amassed a 49 MILLION step count (that’s no typo!), which roughly calculates to over 22 thousand miles.
Steps were recorded by associates wearing Fitbit’s, The One. This pedometer tracks your steps, distance, calories burned, and stairs climbed. At night, it tracks time of undisturbed sleep, as well as the number of times awakened. The FitBit wirelessly syncs to the web to host each participant’s results. An online portal allows participants to connect with friends to see their results while encouraging a little healthy competition.
Check out the final results below:
Total Number of Steps taken during the 60-day Contest = 49,224,598

FIRST PLACE – Team 3 – 5,672,675 Steps
SECOND PLACE – Team 7 – 5,642,693 Steps (so close!)

Top Over-All Walkers
Top Male – Bobby Baca with 1.9M steps
Bobby has continued to work on weight loss since the end of the Biggest Loser Competition and has lost an additional 15 pounds. He attributes this to his walking. Well done Bobby!
Top Female – Lindsay Peifer with 1.2M steps
Lindsay Peifer added steps to her already active lifestyle by walking during her lunch break, in her neighborhood each night and behind the couch while watching TV at home. She’s looking forward to enjoying the new season of “Revenge” from her favorite spot ON the couch this fall while continuing all the other activities!
Congratulations to all the participants, and thank you for your commitment to a healthier, more active lifestyle.
