10 Years Old
Ten years ago this week, Target was the first retailer to open its doors to Sheridan, Colorado shoppers in the River Point at Sheridan shopping center.
Growth in Sheridan
In 2003, the Sheridan Redevelopment Agency was created to develop the 135-acre landfill, now known as River Point at Sheridan. With bonds issued, Miller-Weingarten began the cleanup process on the site. The main anchors, Target and Costco, opened in 2008 along with the majority of the small shop tenants. Regal Cinemas opened in 2009. The opening of the shopping center triggered growth in Sheridan, Co. Since the opening, Sheridan has built a new school, library, and is home to the largest Habitat for Humanity project in Metro Denver, Sheridan Square.
Thriving Retail Destination
Today, Weingarten Realty is the owner and manager of the 288,502 square feet open-air shopping center. The property is home to original retailers; Target, Costco, Regal Theaters, Chili’s Grill & Bar, and others. Since its opening, PetSmart, Tuesday Morning, Michael’s, Conn’s, and Sportsman Warehouse have joined the retail mix. River Point at Sheridan is also a destination for restaurants like Old Chicago Pizza, Buffalo Wild Wings, HuHot Mongolian Grill, Texas Roadhouse, Golden Corral and Chic-fil-A.
Weingarten Realty is proud to be part of such a successful retail redevelopment and we look forward to the next 10 years.
