West Alex is Weingarten Realty’s newest mixed-use, multi-building development in the City of Alexandria, Virginia. Due to its size, West Alex is classified as a Tier 3 development, calling for the creation and implementation of a Transportation Management Plan (TMP).
A TMP is a plan of strategies to encourage residents, employees and patrons to take public transportation, walk, bike or share a ride at your property.
The West Alex TMP, Go West Alex, focuses on sustainable transportation and reducing carbon and air pollution through alternative-transportation infrastructure. The goal for West Alex is to achieve 30% non-SOV (single-occupancy vehicle) transportation for vehicular trips to and from the site.
The TMP program will be executed through identifying locations and implementing bicycle accommodations, identifying locations for potential carshare vehicle parking spaces, implementing a parking management program, and establishing a rideshare program.
The TMP program is geared towards residents living at Array, the upscale apartment complex on property, and employees and patrons of the shopping center.
