The 2013 ICSC Research Conference will take place September 29th through October 1st in Philadelphia, PA. ICSC’s research arm, the Research Task Force, is responsible for an annual conference for professionals in the shopping center industry whose primary function or role revolves around research and data. However, as the research industry evolves, so does the typical commercial real estate position. The conference has expanded its scope to include professionals from other disciplines, as well as research. All positions that touch on the research industry are encouraged to attend – analysts, capital markets, marketing professionals, developers and vendors.
The business associates who join the conference will trade ideas and techniques, and discuss retail trends and technological advancements. There will be many great, informative sessions covering topics such as the economic state of the industry, grocery trends and new technology.
A list of highlighted sessions listed below:
- Omni-channel Integration – Marrying the Digital World with Real Estate
- Beyond the Hype, How Companies are Really Gaining Value from Big Data – Practical Ideas

The keynote speaker, Grant Ian Thrall, Ph. D., will come with an abundance of knowledge on GeoSpatial data. His presentation, GeoSpatial Data and Technology for Growing Your International Business, will inform attendees of the best practices for applying Geospatial data to international commercial real estate. Attendees will walk away with the knowledge and ability to make an informed spatial decision about adding a new investment within the U.S. and China.
As committee chair, I believe the committee has put together an outstanding conference. For the past year, we have worked diligently, coming up with the most pertinent topics to discuss in the sessions as well as securing the most qualified speakers and panelists to extend their knowledge to you. Speaking on behalf of the entire committee, we can’t wait to see you in Philadelphia.
